CHRISTIAN MEDICAL COLLEGE AND HOSPITAL
The CHRISTIAN MEDICAL COLLEGE, located in vellore, Tamil Nadu, is an unaided minority educational institution established in the year 1990. Started as a single- bedded clinic, under the leadership of Dr. IDA SOPHIA SCUDDER, the only daughter of second generation American missionaries. It grew into a full- fledged medical college imparting education in medical, nursing and allied health sciences. In 1942, the MBBS degree course started and in 1947,the medical college became co-educational.
As a strictly not-for-profit society, all available funds are used to subsidise student education, to provide free or subsidised treatment for all patients. Thus CMC stands and will forever stand to be the most prestigious hospital and an educational institution in time immemorial.
VELLORE INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY (VIT)
Vellore Institute of technology, more famously known as VIT, Vellore was founded by Dr.VISWANATHAN G in the year 1984. He envisioned that this institution would offer World – Class Education to students who would in turn create an indelible impact in the society. The engineering college that started with an intake of 180 students in the year 1984 , has evolved as an university with four campuses. Over 25,000 students are enrolled in 51 undergraduate programmes, 33 postgraduate programmes , 11 integrated, 2 research programmes and 2 M. Tech Industrial Programmes with nearly 16,000 residing in the campus grounds.
VIT attracts students and professors from different parts of the world. It houses more than 1000 international students on campus.
